Prof. Mahmoud Elish

About Me

I am a Full Professor and Head of the Computer Science Department at Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), Kuwait. I also served as Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at GUST. Prior to joining GUST, I was an Associate Professor of Software Engineering in the Information and Computer Science Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. During Summer 2016, I was a Faculty Research Fellow in the Computer Science Department at University of Missouri - Saint Louis (UMSL). I received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from George Mason University, USA, in 2005. My research interests include software metrics, software quality, software maintenance and evolution, software security, empirical software engineering, and computational intelligence in software engineering. I have published more than 45 articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. My work has received over 1600 citations, and my current h-index is 18 on Google scholar. I am an Associate Editor of IEEE Access, and an Academic Editor of PLOS ONE. I have been also an active reviewer for several prestigious journals and a program committee member of many conferences. I have intensive experience with curriculum development and academic accreditation. I am an ABET Program Evaluator, EAC and CAC. I have been the principal investigator and Co-PI of several funded research projects. I have also supervised several MSc theses and numerous capstone senior projects. I am an IEEE Senior Member, and a member of ACM.
